National Focal Point

The National Focal Point is designated by the government to report on the implementation of the Global Plan of Action to the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture.

Overall responsibility includes:

• Co-ordinating and facilitating in-country activities of PGRFA information exchange; and
• Presenting reports on PGRFA at national, regional, and international levels.

For the establishment of the National Information Sharing Mechanism, the National Focal Points is in charge of:

• initiating, organizing, and directing the involvement of Stakeholders, in particular,
• calling for and organizing in country Stakeholders' meetings; and
• assisting and guiding the Stakeholders in the participatory data sharing process.

On Behalf of the National Focal Point, a National Coordinating Committe has been appointed to take over the activities mentioned above such as organizing workshops, coordinating stakeholders, data collection and follow-up of the preparation of second country report.
